Welcome!

If you are visiting this site because you've become engaged and are starting the preparations for your wedding day, then first let me say...congratulations!  I wish you all the happiness in the world.

I served as Mayor of Charlottesville from 2008-2012 and truly had no idea how fulfilling the job would be.  I loved working with a diverse array of colleagues and constituents to make our city a great place to live.

What I did not expect when I became Mayor was how many people would ask me to perform their wedding ceremonies for them.  Serving as a wedding officiant is a tremendous honor, so I was delighted to comply.

Even after my term in office was over, the requests kept coming in.  I enjoyed performing wedding ceremonies so much, I decided to go into business as a part-time wedding officiant.  By November of 2023, I had officiated my 1,000th wedding!

If you yourself are in need of an officiant for a Charlottesville-area wedding, I'd be happy to work with you to perform a custom-designed ceremony on your special day.

p.s. I am honored and humbled to have been voted as Charlottesville's Best Wedding Officiant in the "Best of C-Ville" awards for several years running now.  I love sending couples forward into their new lives together, and accolades like this are just icing on the (wedding) cake!
